Uganda, Namibia, Kenya remain unbeaten

Zambia

The Ugandan U19 team, who ended winners of the 2009 ICC Africa U19 CWCQ, continued their winning ways on Monday. For the second day in a row, the Ugandan bowling attack bowled their opposition out for under a hundred. Prize bowler for Uganda was Faruk Ochimi with four Tanzanian wickets for 20 runs. The Tanzania attack hardly troubled the Ugandans, who knocked the target off in 16 overs.

At the Wanderers Oval in Windhoek the Namibian U19 team comprehensively beat neighbors Zambia. Zambia won the toss and elected to bowl, restricting the Zambians to 158 all out. Stephan Baard was the pick of the Namibian bowlers with 4 for 35 in six overs.

The run chase began in earnest with Namibia breaking at lunch with 80 for 1. They reached the target score in the 32nd over with seven wickets in hand. Justin Baard shone with the bat and scored 45 off 36 balls.

Kenya were given a run for their money against Sierra Leone at the CCD Oval.
Kenya were bowled out for 176 in the last over of their innings with Joseph Ochieng scoring a half century off 95 balls.

Sierra Leone started off well but soon found themselves in trouble at 149 for 7. They could not recover and were all out for 157 runs, giving Kenya victory by 20 runs. Sierra Leone’s top batsmen were I Mansaray with 47 runs and I Kabbia with 56.

In what must be the match of the day Nigeria scored a surprise win over Botswana. Botswana won the toss and elected to bat and scored a satisfactory 182 for 9 in their 50 overs.

Nigeria in pursuit of the target were hopelessly out of the game after the 30th over at 93 for 7. However a fighting seventh wicket partnership of 68 saw them recover and win by 2 wickets.
