The MTC Rugby Premier League was thrown a curve ball this weekend when most of the teams played their last matches of the season before the semi finals on September 4.
United, who had been ruled out of the semi finals were given another lifeline when they got a maximum six points after Kudus failed to turn up for their match. As a result of the forfeited match, United now have 36 points with 14 matches played and are now currently fifth on the log with the same number of points with Mariental.
Mariental are however fourth with a superior points difference. Mariental still have a game in hand as they are due to play Western Suburbs on August 28. This match was rescheduled after Suburbs had earlier refused to have their league match, which had been scheduled to be played in Mariental, played in Stampriet.
The rescheduled match will be played in Mariental on August 28, starting at 15h00.
This means that all three teams, Suburbs, Mariental and United still have a chance of making it to the semi final playoffs at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
If Mariental win against Suburbs then they will be the team that will go to the semi-finals. To be able to finish fourth Suburbs need to beat Mariental with at least one bonus point, and hope that Mariental don't get a bonus point against Suburbs.
United on the other hand can only go to the semi final if Mariental loses and Suburbs fail to get a bonus point.
Wanderers qualified for the semi final play offs when they beat Mariental 64-25 on Saturday. This win meant that they will go into the semi final play offs as the number one team and will face the team that will finish in fourth spot.
Wanderers are the only team to finish the season with 11 matches won out of the 14 played.
Reho Falcon will finish second on the log and therefore will face Rehoboth who are third with 43 points. Falcons have 50 points, four points less than Wanderers who have 54 points.
Rehoboth won their last match against Unam 47-0 on Friday evening. The match was abandoned after the lights went out twenty minutes before full time.
This result means that Unam will finish at the bottom of the log with 18 points after they won only three of their 14 matches played. Kudus finish in seventh position after they won five of their matches and have 31 points.
