Metropolitan Schools reach semifinals stage

Windhoek High School (WHS) once again dominated the Metropolitan Schools Rugby Board Trophy League with eight of its teams reaching the semi finals which are due to be played at the Hage Geingob Stadium on 13 and 14 August.

The quarterfinals were held in Windhoek on 5 and 6 August and a total of 30 matches were played over the weekend. In the Super League WHS 1 and Dr Lemmer were given byes in the quarterfinals because they finished first in their respective leagues. In the Under 19 A league Tsumeb Gimnasium and De Duine were given byes and WHS 2 and WHS 4 were given byes for the Under 19 B and C leagues respectively.

In the Under 19 Super League, Dr. Lemmer will face Elnatan on Friday and WHS will play against Walvis Bay on Saturday. WHS won last year’s Super League.

De Duine, HTS, Tsumeb Gimnasium and WHS qualified last weekend to play in the semi finals of the Under 19 A league. The teams that will play in the B league semi final are HTS, Windhoek Gymnasium, Dr. Lemmer and Pk De Villiers.

The teams that made it to the semi finals in the Under 19 D league are WHS, JG van der Wath, Delta and Ella du Plessis. WHS, Luderitz, Gobabis Gimnasium and Grootfontein qualified from the C League.

Last year WHS won the Under 15 A league and will also have Walvis Bay, Windhoek Gymnasium and WHS 2 to contend with. In the B league Jan Mohr, Dr. Lemmer, Grootfontaine and Mariental Schools qualified to play in t he semi finals. WHS won the Under 15 A league while Jan Mohr won the B league.

In the Under 14 A league, Dr. Lemmer will face Windhoek Gymnasium on Friday at 15h35 while HTS will play WHS on Saturday at 9h10. Mauritz Devenish will play WHS at 07h00 on Saturday morning and Otji Rugby face Mariental Schools at 10h10 on the same day in the B league. Last year, both the Under 14 A and B leagues were won by WHS.

All the matches will be played at the Hage Geingob Stadium starting at 13:15 on Friday and at 07h00 on Saturday morning.
