Delta to play Concordia in FNB Classic Clash

Delta vs Concordia

Concordia College will face defending champions Delta High School in an FNB Classic Clashes encounter on Saturday at the Concordia College School Grounds.

The action will start at 08h00 with the teams’ Under 15 sides locking horns. This will be followed by the Under 17 teams’ match at 09h30 before the main match at 11h00.

Concordia’s Bradley Ezaks was confident of his team’s chances against Delta.

“We have only lost one match this season, and the team is confident that we will do our home crowd proud this year,” Ezaks said.

“Strikers Upengisa Jaha and Gabriel Kapopo and midfielders Uafeni Mulubeni, Terdius Uiseb and Uafeni Shitane are some of the key players to keep an eye on during the match,” Ezaks continued.

Joseph Martin, the coach of Delta, says that his team has a solid foundation because of their many star players.

“We are looking forward to the FNB Classic Clash and the team has had a good season so far. Concordia is one of our fiercest opponents as they beat us in the Coca Cola Cup semi finals in 2008 as well as in the league fixture. We got the upper hand in 2009 by beating them in the inaugural FNB Classic Clash,” Martin said.

Delta were the Under 17 league champions, and their goalkeeper Andre Fug plays for SKW in the Premier League and also represents the Namibia Under 20 side.

The remaining confirmed Classic Clashes to look forward to next month include, Grootfontein Secondary School vs F. Awaseb Secondary School on August 14; and Nahale Senior Secondary School vs Ongha Senior Secondary School on 21 August and Okatana Combined School vs Okolong Secondary School on the same date.
