Former WBA welterweight champion Paulus “The Hitman” Moses will step into the ring again on November 6 in Ongwediva.
A non-title fight has been scheduled against an opponent who is yet to be found his trainer and promoter Nestor Tobias said, adding that he will look to different countries for Moses’ opponent.
“We are looking for fighters from South America, Mexico, the United States, Britain and Australia for his opponent,” Tobias said.
“He is fighting to keep his world rating in the top 10,” Tobias added.
“We know that he can do better than what happened on the 29th - what we saw in the ring was not the real Hitman,” he added.
Moses lost his WBA welterweight title to Miguel Acosta on May 29 after a knock out in the sixth round. The scheduled fight on November 6 will also serve as preparation for when Moses decides to challenge for the title.
Tobias also announced the return to the ring of Wilberforce Shihepo and Paulus “The Rock” Ambunda. The two boxers are set to fight on July 24 at the Windhoek Country Club.
Shihepo will challenge Zimbabwean Tineyi Maridzo for the WBO super middleweight title. Maridzo has a fight record of 10 fights, winning four and losing six.
Ambunda retained his WBO bantamweight title against South African Sipho Nkadimeng on May 29 on points, but Tobias hasn’t found a new opponent for him yet.
Betuel “Tyson” Uushona and Vikapita Meroro will both defend their WBO titles on August 20 at the Windhoek Country Club.
Uushona retained his WBO African welterweight title when he beat Philip Kotey of Ghana on May 29. This meant that he is now the mandatory challenger for the Commonwealth title.
Tobias added that at the end of the month June, Uushona is expected to be rated in the top 5 on the WBO ranking.
“The future for Tyson is bright as long as he keeps on performing like he did on the 29th,” Tobias said.
Vikapita Meroro is the current WBO Africa light heavyweight titleholder after he beat Douglas Otieno of Kenya on March 20 earlier this year.
Tobias said that if Meroro performs well, he would have a shot at the world title later this year as a voluntary challenger. Jurgen Braehmer of Germany currently holds the WBO super heavyweight title.
Both Uushona and Meroro are yet to find out who their opponents will be on the night.
Tobias also announced that Sacky “Izinyoka” Shikukutu and Martin Haikali will fight in Walvis Bay on July 7. Their opponents are yet to be decided. Both fights will be non-title fights.
