The annual Pointbreak Open Water swim will be taking place this Sunday, 7 March, at Oanob at 9.30am. Competitors can choose between a 2.1km, the longest open water swim in Namibia, or a 700m swim. Event organisers, Otb Sport, expect well over 100 participants, as more than 90 swimmers have already entered. That would make it Namibia's biggest open water swim.
Otb Sport said they were very pleased with the increase in participant numbers over the years and that the increase in participation in both the Pointbreak Open Water swim and the Pupkewitz Jetty Mile showed that more Namibians are discovering the enjoyment and thrill of open water swimming in the splendour of the Namibian landscape. The Oanob dam and its surroundings offer a very pleasurable family outing so that both participants and supporters can enjoy the event
Prizes for this year's Pointbreak Open Water Swim include over N$8 000 in Otb Sport vouchers, trophies and medals for the winners. In addition there would be lucky draw prizes from Crocs and Speedo. The first 60 entrants also receive a Lizzard event t-shirt.
This years participants include top Namibian swimmers and triathletes. Talented youngsters, Alex Skinner, Yara Hierath, Kiah Borg, Toni Roth, Micaela Cloete and Adriaan Visser amongst others will be competing. Veteran Namibian triathletes Zoe Mitchell, Andy Chase, Patrick de Goede and Tokkie Bombosch and Mark Brinkmann will be participating in the 2.1km swim.

The event exhibits many of the characteristics with which Pointbreak associates itself, such as excellence, endurance, zest for life, balance, and an enjoyment of the beautiful natural environment which we have on our doorstep.
