UAE beat Namibia by 20 runs in their second One Day International on Friday to win the series 2-0.
UAE batted first and scored a competitive 271 off their 50 overs at an average of 5,5 runs per over.
Pieter Rossouw dismissed UAE opener Mohammed Iqbal for 18, while Tobie Verwey ran out Amjad Ali for 16, to leave the visitors at 38/2.
Arshad Ali and Saqib Ali however steadied the innings with a 56-run partnership before Saqib was out stumped off Nicolaas Scholtz’ bowling for 30.
The run feast for UAE continued as Abdul Rehman joined Arshad as they put on 122 runs for the fourth wicket.
Arshad Ali was eventually out for 75, caught off Tobie Verwey’s bowling, while Rehman was dismissed for 71 off Scholtz’ bowling.
Further down the order Khurram Khan added 18 and Moiz Shahid 17 not out as UAE were all out for 271.
Nicolaas Scholtz was Namibia’s best bowler, taking 3/56 off 10 overs, while Tobie Verwey took 2/53.
Namibia’s run chase got off to a steady start as Raymond van Schoor and new cap Wessel Myburgh put on 75 for the first wicket before Myburgh was out for 33.
Wian van Vuuren was run out for 12, and when Van Schoor was out LBW to Mohammed Tauqir for 65 Namibia’s total was 123/3 at a rather pedestrian run rate of just over four to the over.
Craig Williams and Nicolaas Scholtz upped the tempo with Williams scoring a run a ball 46, but when he was dismissed with the score on 182, Namibia’s chase effectively ended.
Scholtz soon followed for 28, while Willem Groenewald added 18 and Louis Klazinga and Pieter Rossouw 11 each before Namibia were all out for 251.
The UAE’s top bowlers were Arshad Ali, Mohammed Tauqir and Saqib Ali who each took two wickets.
