MTC resumes rugby sponsorship
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 14:18.MTC on Tuesday announced that it was resuming its sponsorship agreement with the Namibia Rugby Union and announced a financial commitment of N$2,5 million for the 2012 season.
The announcement follows weeks of uncertainty after MTC had earlier suspended its sponsorship following the resignation of the former NRU excom after the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Khomas Nampol remain unbeaten
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 12:37.The Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club (KNVC) women’s team kept their unbeaten record in the Bank Windhoek Volleyball National League 2012 after beating DTS 3-0 at the Patrick Iyambo Police College last weekend.
So far, KNVC have only lost one set to all their opponents since the start of the league at the end of April.
DTS put up a fight in the first set before KNVC took it 25-23, but KVNC stepped up a gear to comfortably win the next two sets 25-19, 25-16.
Ahrens third at SA Champs
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 11:43.Namibian Olympiad Gaby Ahrens excelled by finishing third overall at the South African Olympic Trap Championships in Cape Town over the weekend.
Ahrens was the only female amongst 22 competitors at the SA Championships but she showed her male competitors a thing or two as she went on to win the bronze medal.
South African champion Richard Thompson won the gold medal while compatriot Erik de Wet won the silver medal. competing at the
Ahrens was happy with her performance, saying that her preparation was on track for the Olympic Games.
