Khomas on course as Oshana crush Omaheke
Submitted by editor on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 22:57.Captain Warren Pofander scored four goals as the hosts Karas redeemed themselves with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Caprivi in the Losers Section last eight, while defending champions Khomas edged out Oshikoto 5-3 on penalties to reach the Namibian Newspaper Cup semi-finals.

Following their disappointing 1-0 defeat to the Oshikoto region in the opening match on Good Friday, the Karas region bounced back with aplomb to beat the Caprivi Region 6-0 in the first match of the second day at the Keetmanshoop Sports Stadium as they met in the Losers Section.
Namibia turn on the screws
Submitted by editor on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 16:08.Namibia turned the screws on Canada with victory well in sight at stumps on the third day of their Intercontinental Cup match on Saturday.
With Namibia’s tailenders piling on the runs, the home side took a 100-run lead on the first innings and then restricted Canada to 167/7, as the visitors took an overall lead of 67 runs with only three wickets remaining.
Namibia started the day at 293/6 and immediately lost overnight batsman Sarel Burger (135) and Ian Opperman (35) within three balls to the bowling of Reeza Cheema.
Mixed results for Namibia at U17 Tourney
Submitted by editor on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 07:43.Namibia national Under-17 side lost 1-0 to Westphalia as the visitors had their striker’s leg broken at the Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay on Friday.
In their second match of the Three-Nations Tournament, Namibia suffered their first loss of the competition as they conceded a seventh minute penalty after a wild challenge by their keeper Donovan Geingub on a Westphalia striker that left the latter with a broken leg and a red card for the former.
According to Namibia head coach Timo Tjongarero, the incident was unfortunate and all the players were emotional about it.
Karas out, Erongo escape thriller
Submitted by editor on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 07:36.The 12 edition of the Namibian Youth Cup got underway at the Keetmanshoop Sports stadium on Friday and produced some early upsets.
The host region, Karas, hosting the competition for the second time, squared off against Oshikoto region in the first match of Day One and they dominated most of the play in the first half but had no goal to show for their enterprising efforts.
