Civics beat Ramblers 1-0
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 21:42.Civics beat Ramblers 1-0 to move up to third spot on the log on Wednesday night.
Collin Chimu scored the winning goal a minute before the break when he latched onto a loose ball in the centre of the park and unleashed a 30m shot that flew into the left hand corner of the net.
The goal was somewhat against the run of play as Ramblers had done most of the attacking but they could not break through Civics’ defence, which was well marshalled by Donelly Nel and Penias Nzeve.
Namibia to face SWD
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 15:00.Namibia’s cricket team takes on South Western Districts in a CSA Challenge match starting at the Wanderers field on Thursday.
That is, if the weather permits. Last weekend they were supposed to play Kwazulu Natal, but there was no play at all as the 3-Day Challenge was rained out while the 1-Day Challenge was cancelled due to a wet outfield.
It has continued to rain in Windhoek throughout the week and a decision on whether play is possible will only be made on Thursday morning according to Namibian coach Johan Rudolph.
Telecom sponsors N$75 000 for Namibian hockey
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 11:22.Telecom Namibia on Wednesday announced a sponsorship of N$75 000 to the Namibia Hockey Union for the Telecom Namibia Indoor Hockey League that will start on Friday, February 10.
The NHU’s president Jesse Schickerling made the announcement at a press conference that was also attended by Telecom Namibia MD Frans Ndoroma.
A hive of activity in transfer window

In the most high profile transfer, Ramblers’ young national striker Sadney Urikhob joined Civics for a fee of N$25 000.
Ramblers’ Brazilian midfielder Alex Ferreira also joined Civics, while their former national goalkeeper Athiel Mbaha joined Tigers.
Khomas Athletics Champs
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 05:59.The annual Khomas Region Track and Field Championship is billed for Saturday, February 18 at the Independence Stadium.
The annual regional championship is fully sanctioned by Athletics Namibia and a team will thereafter be selected to represent the Khomas region at the Athletics Namibia National Championships scheduled to take place on the 25 February at the same stadium. The due date for club entries is Tuesday, 14 February at 12h00.
