Namibia to host Electronic Gaming qualifiers
Submitted by newsdesk on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 10:47.The World Cyber Games (WCG) national qualifiers and preliminaries will be held in Windhoek in September and October this year.
The preliminaries will be held at various Windhoek schools and at the Windhoek Show Grounds from September 23 to October 1. The finals will be held at the Wernhill Mall on 28 and 29 October.
The winners in the national qualifiers will represent Namibia at the WCG 2011 Grand Finals to be held in Busan, South Korea in December.
JS Academy remain on top
Submitted by newsdesk on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 09:53.JS Academy are still leading the Women’s Super League (WSL) despite a poor showing in their 0-0 draw against fifth placed 21 BDE United on Saturday.
Academy did not concede a goal in their first match without coach Jeremy Zimmer who recently signed with Namibian Premiership side Civics as assistant coach.
They have 10 points after winning three of their four matches thus far.
Okahandja Beauties remain second with nine points on the log after their 28-0 thrashing of Challengers.
Beauties managed a strong comeback after their 2-1 loss to JS Academy last week.
Young team named to play Ireland
Submitted by editor on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 09:44.A young Namibian team will take on Ireland in their first ICC Intercontinental match of the season in Belfast from September 6 to 9.
The match had to be rescheduled after the original encounter at the end of June did not take place due to visa problems for the Namibian team.
The Namibian team includes four Under 19 players who recently competed for Namibia at the U19 World Cup qualifiers in ireland, where Namibia grabbed the sixth and final spot for next year’s U19 World Cup in Australia.
