Brave Warriors selectors go for youth
Submitted by editor on Wed, 06/22/2011 - 19:05.The Brave Warriors made a clear break with the past when they named a new-look squad with the emphasis on youth, to face Malawi in a friendly match in Blantyre on July 6.
Several new players including six Under 20 players have been called up for the friendly which will form part of Malawi’s Independence Celebrations.
Namibia U19s selected for Ireland
Submitted by newsdesk on Wed, 06/22/2011 - 12:01.Cricket Namibia announced the team that will represent Namibia at the 2011 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier that will be held in Dublin, Ireland from 27 July to 9 August.
Namibia qualified for the tournament after they won the Africa Under 19 Championships in Windhoek last year. They will be joined by Kenya who finished second in the tournament as the Africa representatives.
A total of 10 countries will participate in the qualifiers with only the top six qualifying for the World Cup.
Hoffman 2nd in Upper Austria Tour
Submitted by newsdesk on Wed, 06/22/2011 - 09:12.Namibian cyclist, Eric Hoffman, who rides for Team Baier-corretec finished second in the three day Upper Austria Tour.
After a three-stage tour covering 476km he was only narrowly beaten by Czech champion Peter Bencik.
In the first stage, he attacked a group of four riders who had earlier broken away from the peloton about 50km into the race. After he caught up with them, the group managed to extend their lead by about two minutes before the peloton decided to chase after the group.
