McLaren the mainstay for Griquas
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/30/2010 - 21:04.An unbeaten century by Adrian McLaren helped Griquas reach 270/8 at stumps on the first day of their CSA three-day challenge against Namibia on Thursday. When rain brought a premature halt to proceedings, McLaren was not out on 132 which came off 176 balls and included 10 fours and four sixes.
Gihahn Cloete and Tumelo Bodibe put on 63 runs for the opening wicket before Bodibe was caught off the bowling of Christi Viljoen for 39 with the total on 63.
Sarel Burger snapped up the wickets of Cloete (22) and Aubrey Swanepoel (3) as Namibia had the visitors in some trouble at 67/3.
NFA Galz & Goals wins international award
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/30/2010 - 13:10.Competing with international organizations from all over the world, the Namibian Football Association’s ‘GALZ & GOALS’ initiative in partnership with UNICEF won US$15 000 plus professional capacity building support in administration and management for the award of ‘Sport Federation or Governing Body of the Year’ at the Beyond Sport Awards in Chicago, USA.
The NFA’s ‘Galz & Goals’ representative and women’s football head coach of Namibia, Jacqui Shipanga, accepted the internationally recognized award with great enthusiasm in Chicago on Wednesday evening.

NFA slams Moeti after Valcke remark
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/30/2010 - 11:52.The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has slammed a statement made by Cassius Moeti as “malicious” and “immoral” after he referred to recent statements by FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke as “irresponsible.”
The NFA issued a statement that read, “The NFA would like to vehemently rubbish allegations by Cassius Moeti over the weekend, where he called the FIFA secretary general’s remarks on continuity as “irresponsible.”

Rohl wins dressage championships
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 09/30/2010 - 10:44.Alexandra Rohl won the Namibia National Dressage Championships in the Advanced Class Championship category. The championships were held at the Reitverein Swakopmund at the coast on 27 and 28 September.
Rohl won the championship while she was riding her horse Alpha So Cool. In second place was Dagnar Kubirske on her horse General Tack Shop Momo.
Silke Kuberske who was riding Okakambe Fury won the Novice Championship with Raquel Mendes as the runner up with her horse Spinxblick Maggie.
Stars held to second successive draw
Submitted by editor on Wed, 09/29/2010 - 21:54.Defending champions African Stars were held to a second successive draw as they shared the spoils against SKW on Wednesday night. Edison Muheua gave Stars the lead from the penalty spot on 31 minutes, but SKW struck back through a fine header by Alfred Ndyenge shortly after the break.
Stars did the early attacking with their new winger Edwin Korukuve especially prominent against his former team mates.
He headed over the bar after only two minutes and then provided several inviting crosses from the left wing that his strikers failed to put away.
