Bjorn Bierbrauer took top honours at the fifth leg of the Bank Windhoek Enduro Championships in Aranos on Saturday.
In the Class 2 Open Bikes category, Bierbrauer beat Ingo Waldschmidt into second place while Heiko Hennes came third.
During the race, the fifth in the 2010 series, the riders had to cover four laps of the 44km circuit. A mixture of red dunes, loose gravel and hills challenged the riders who had to keep up their concentration and momentum throughout.
JS Academy White won both of their matches in the Under15 Galz and Goals league on Saturday 7 August.
In their first match the JS Academy White team beat SKW 2-1 with goals from Emma Naris and Brumelda Cloete. The first goal came in the first half. SKW equalised early in the second half and then in the dying minutes Cloete scored the second goal for the JS Academy to give them the win.
SKW however soon got back to winning ways when they beat JS Academy yellow 1-0 in their next match.
Unam tightened their grip at the top of the Men’s Field Hockey Premier League when they beat DTS 3-1 at the Doc Jubber Hockey Fields on Saturday.
In a mainly one sided encounter, Unam had more opportunities and DTS keeper DJ Strauss had to make a few early saves in the first ten minutes of the match.
17 minutes into the first half Unam took the lead through a great goal by striker Siabonga Martins. He dribbled the ball from his own half and past at least three DTS defenders to shoot the ball past Strauss with a low shot into the corner of the net.
