Concordia beat Delta
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 23:10.Concordia College convincingly beat Delta School 4-0 in their FNB Classic Clashes match at the Concordia field on Saturday. Concordia held a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime but stepped up the tempo in the second half to run out comfortable winners.
The score could well have been higher had it not been for the fine goalkeeping by Delta’s young keeper Andy Balzar who brought off some fine saves.
Namibian athletes fail to make an impact
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 22:44.Namibia’s participation at the African Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya came to an end on Saturday, when none of the four athletes in action could make an impact in their events.
Namibian sprinters Hitjiverue Kaanjuka and Jesse Urikhob failed to make the 200m final, while Roger Haitengi finished well down the field in the men’s triple jump.
The 17-year-old Corlia Kruger, however, showed great potential as she finished sixth overall in the women’s pentathlon event.
Zimbabwe beat Namibia in Junior World Cup qualifier
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 18:32.Namibia missed out on qualification for the 2011 Junior World Rugby Trophy when they were beaten 29-15 by Zimbabwe in the final of the African qualifiers in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Friday.
It was the second consecutive year that Zimbabwe had beaten Namibia in the final and this time around they came from behind to snatch the African trophy from Namibia.
According to www.zimbabweanrugby.com Zimbabwe opened the scoring through a Nelson Thomas penalty, but it was Namibia who scored the first try of the match through eighthman Royal Otto.
Namibian Pumpkins, Theo Katjimune set the pace
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 07:27.More than 100 young school girls turned out for Galz & Goals soccer matches at the Eldorado Field in Khomasdal on July 31, with five matches taking place in the Under 13 league and one in the Under 15 league.
Theo Katjimune Primary School and Namibian Pumpkins both recorded big victories against Pioniers Park in the Galz and Goals Under 13 league.
Namibian Pumpkins beat Pioniers Park 6-0 while Theo Katjimune beat them by the same score.
Theo Katjimune also beat the Spanish Pumpkins 3-0 but were held to a 1-1 draw by Eros Primary.
