World Cup set to close in a blaze of lights and music
Submitted by editor on Thu, 07/08/2010 - 19:56.The Closing Ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is set to be a colourful, celebratory tribute to the tournament, the fans and their experiences in the host country during what’s been a memorable month.
The 30-minute night-time ceremony will take place at 18h30 on Sunday, 11 July 2010, at Johannesburg’s Soccer City Stadium - ahead of the showpiece 2010 FIFA World Cup final - and will feature some spectacular performances and unique special effects.
Karas and Omaheke bid to host Newspaper Cup
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 07/08/2010 - 10:29.The Karas and Omaheke regions yesterday submitted their bids to host the 2011 edition of The Namibian Newspaper Cup at Soccer House.
Initially there were four regions that had shown interest in hosting the cup but two, Oshana and Otjozondjupa, withdrew their bids before the presentations.
The Chairperson of the Karas bid committee, Saul Kahuika cited different reasons for why the Karas region should be allowed to host the cup in 2011.
