It’s Arrows vs The Amakhosi
Submitted by editor on Thu, 07/29/2010 - 17:21.Namibian soccer fans will be in for a treat when Eleven Arrows take on Kaizer Chiefs at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Although the match has been billed as a pre-season international friendly, there will be no love lost on the field of play as both teams are expected to field their strongest sides in preparation for the upcoming season.
At the time of writing, Chiefs had not yet confirmed their lineup but according to Arrows coach, Congo Hindjou, their top players will be coming.
Delta to play Concordia in FNB Classic Clash
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 07/29/2010 - 12:15.Concordia College will face defending champions Delta High School in an FNB Classic Clashes encounter on Saturday at the Concordia College School Grounds.
The action will start at 08h00 with the teams’ Under 15 sides locking horns. This will be followed by the Under 17 teams’ match at 09h30 before the main match at 11h00.
Concordia’s Bradley Ezaks was confident of his team’s chances against Delta.
“We have only lost one match this season, and the team is confident that we will do our home crowd proud this year,” Ezaks said.
Tjironda and Isaak take top honors at Junior Chess Championship
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 07/29/2010 - 11:06.Eleven year old Nicola Tjironda and fifteen year old Julian Isaak took top prizes at the just ended Third Bank Windhoek Namibia National Junior Chess Championship held at David Bezuidenhout High School in Windhoek.
The championship was held under the auspices of Namibia Chess Federation (NCF) from 23 to 25 July.
The annual event saw invited players younger than 20 years competing. Tjironda began playing chess two years ago and is described by Max Nitzborn, the President of NCF, as a natural talent and Julian Isaak has been playing for the past four years.
