Behnke makes successful return

Michael Behnke made a successful return to Enduro Racing to win the Open Quad Class at the third round of the Bank Windhoek National Enduro Championships on Saturday, June 26.

Behnke dominated the race which was co-sponsored by Propshaft Engineering and took place at the Omakwara Farm in the Witvlei district, to finish well ahead of second placed Jaco Snyman and Andre Basson who came third.

The day was a big success, with some exciting racing and a record number of entrants.

Bassingthwaighte to defend national title

The Namibian National Mountain Biking Championships will take place on Saturday, July 4 at Farm Kleine Kuppe in Windhoek.

Last year the winner was Marc Bassingthweighte who finished ahead of Arno Viljoen and Christo Swartz who came third.

Bassingthwaighte, who just arrived back in Namibia after six weeks of competitions in Germany, was very confident about his chances.

Classic encounter awaits between Brazil and The Netherlands

A classic encounter can be expected when Brazil take on the Netherlands in the first of the World Cup quarterfinals in Port Elizabeth on Friday afternoon.

Brazil are currently the top ranked team in the world and the most successful nation at the World Cup, having won the title five times. The Dutch however, are currently on a record run of eight consecutive victories and an unbeaten streak of 23 matches, which has seen them move up to fourth in the world rankings.

Namibia finally record a win

Namibia finally got their first win when they beat Mexico 5-3 at the FIRS Championships currently taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany. They however went down 10-5 in their next match against Canada, relegating them to play in the lower bracket.

Galz & Goals Youth Team to compete in South Africa

The NFA Galz & Goals youth team are due to leave for South Africa on July to compete in the Hessequa Cup, taking with them their message of girls making smart choices for a healthy life.

The Namibia Under 16 girls’ football team will come into a week long training camp at Soccer House on Friday evening. The team will be preparing for their trip to South Africa on July 1st where they will compete in the Hessequa Cup.

NFA Gals and Goals Youth League kicks off

The 2010 season of the NFA Galz and Goals Youth league kicked off recently in Windhoek at El Dorado High School.

The first matches of the league, which is in its second year, were played on June 19 with seven teams taking part in the under 13 age group and eight teams in the under 15 age group.

More teams joined the league in the second week, 25-26 June, with the Under 13 teams increasing to thirteen teams.

On 25 June the Under 16 girls played two matches each with SKW and Hage Geingob High School playing to a 1-1 draw in the first match.
