NNOC gears up for international Games
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/01/2010 - 23:37.The Namibia National Olympic Committee on Tuesday announced a total allocation of N$250 000 that will go towards Namibia’s preparation for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore from 13 to 26 August.
At a press conference at the NNOC offices, the NNOC’s marketing chairperson Ndeulipulwa Hamutumwa said that of this amount, N$30 000 will be awarded to five athletes each who will represent Namibia at the Games.
Namibian rugby teams selected
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/01/2010 - 13:00.The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) has announced the two national teams that will participate in the Safricam Sevens tournament in Kenya and the IRB Nations Cup in Romania.
The Sevens tournament will take place on 5 and 6 June at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya while the IRB Nations Cup will take place from 11 June in Romania.
In the Nations Cup Namibia will face Romania on June 11, Scotland A on June 15 and Georgia on June 20. The team with the most points at the conclusion of the competition will win the tournament. The other countries taking part are Argentina Jaguars and Italy A.
Craven wins bronze at FBD Insurance RAS
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/01/2010 - 08:24.Dan Craven staged a great comeback to finish third overall in the FBD Insurance RAS over the weekend. Craven had dropped down to eighth place overall after the fourth stage but showed great character and determination to come second in Stage 6 and narrow the gap on the leaders. But the deficit was just too big and he eventually had to settle for third place, 1 minute 32 seconds behind the winner Alexander Wetterhall of Swedish Team Sprocket Pro.
