Oshakati put on a great reception for Zakumi on Thursday with the staff at the FNB Namibia’s main branch welcoming him with singing and dancing and posters like “Welcome to Oshakati” and “Crazy about soccer.”
The Governor of the Oshana Region Clemens Kashupulwa was on hand to welcome him, saying that his arrival marked a ‘special day for the Oshana region.’
“Now we feel part and parcel of the 2010 World Cup and we are very proud of FNB Namibia for bringing Zakumi here. This is a joyful day for all the soccer loving people of the Oshana region,” he said.
The Zakumi road show hit FNB Namibia’s Ondangwa branch on a quiet and cloudy morning on Thursday but it wasn’t long before the spirits as well as the clouds lifted. When Zakumi made his appearance he received spontaneous applause from the FNB staff members who were all kitted out in their World Cup t-shirts for the occasion, while inquisitive members of the public soon gathered around the famous visitor.
