Namibia lose to Zambia in U20 Cosafa final
Submitted by newsdesk on Mon, 12/13/2010 - 09:41.Namibia lost 4-1 to Zambia in the Metropolitan Cosafa U20 final, which was played in Gaborone, Botswana on Sunday.
The Zambians started their onslaught by going on the attack, which resulted in the first corner kick of the final that was taken by Roderick Kabwe, but it did not yield a result.
Five minutes later, Willy Stephanus took Namibia’s first corner but captain Sidney Urikhob failed to get the ball in the back of the net but instead the effort went over the crossbar.
13 minutes into the match, the Zambians through Chaka Lungu scored the first goal of the match.
Namibia finishes 5th in Nations Cup
Submitted by newsdesk on Mon, 12/13/2010 - 07:49.Namibia finished fifth in the Nations Cup netball tournament which recently ended in Singapore after they beat India 72-23 in a fifth place play off.
On the final day Namibia replayed India beating them by 49 goals after they had beaten them on the previous day 73–25 in the group stages of the tournament.
SWD win One Day Challenge
Submitted by editor on Mon, 12/13/2010 - 05:38.South Western Districts beat Namibia by 27 runs in their one day CSA Challenge match in Oudtshoorn on Sunday.
SWD won the toss and elected to bat on a batsman’s wicket. Louis Klazinga removed Sammy Joe Avontuur early on for 2, but from then on SWD took control as Ross McMillan and Burton de Wett shared a century stand for the second wicket.
McMillan was eventually out for 61 while De Wett went on to score a century. At the end of SWD’s 40 overs De Wett was still at the crease, not out on 108 off 95 balls which included 11 fours and two sixes.
