Namibia beat Griquas by 18 runs
Submitted by editor on Sun, 10/03/2010 - 18:59.Namibia beat Griquas by 18 runs in an exciting Limited Overs Challenge match at the Wanderers field on Sunday.
Namibia set a competitive total of 256/4 off their 40 overs, but Griquas got off to a flying start and at 135/a2 they seemed well set to reach Namibia’s target.
Namibia’s bowlers, led by Louis Klazinga and Sarel Burger however plugged away and grabbed wickets at regular intervals to reign Griquas’ run chase in. The asking run rate steadily grew and at the end Griquas were all out, 18 runs in arrears, with two overs remaining.
Muinjo re-elected as NFA president
Submitted by editor on Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:51.NFA president John Muinjo and vice president Kornelius Kapenda both attained crushing victories on Saturday when they were voted into a second term of office at the 20th NFA congress on Saturday.
Muinjo was voted in for a second term as president after beating his challenger Ranga Haikali by 13 votes to three, while Kapenda retained the vice presidency after beating JJ Doeseb by 12 votes to four.
Ramblers in the lead
Submitted by newsdesk on Sun, 10/03/2010 - 10:11.Ramblers is leading the log after winning their second match of the 2010/11 season when they beat Blue Waters 1-0 in Walvis Bay on Saturday.
Ramblers are the only team to have won both matches after they beat league newcomers Blue Boys 3-0 in their first league match.
Oshakati City who managed to hold out for a draw against Civics are in second place with four points after they won their first match against newly promoted Mighty Gunners 2-0.
Griquas beat Namibia by 10 wickets
Submitted by editor on Sat, 10/02/2010 - 21:58.Griqualand West duly wrapped up a 10-wicket win against Namibia in their three-day CSA Challenge match on Saturday.
Griquas dismissed Namibia for 258 in their second innings, leaving a modest victory target of only 67 runs and their openers Gihahn Cloete (29 not out) and Tumelo Bodibe (36 not out) soon rattled off the required runs.
Namibia started the final day at 213/6 and with a lead of only 23 runs, survival was their only concern.

Gielie van Wyk only started shooting in 2006 but soon made his mark.
In 2009 he won his first national title and by the end of the year had established himself as Namibia’s top male shooter.

Johanna Benson burst onto the scene when she won three gold medals at the South African Nedbank National Championships for the Physically Disabled in Port Elizabeth in March this year.
Civics held to a draw by Oshakati City
Submitted by newsdesk on Sat, 10/02/2010 - 16:21.Oshakati City managed to hold Civics to a 1-1 draw after scoring the first goal at the SKW Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
City were the ones who attacked first with Kamuchacha Iimbodi showing prominence in Civics’ half.
In the first twenty minutes, Iimbodi had three shots on target and one that went over the bar.
In the 32nd minute, City almost went ahead when Iimbodi crossed to David Joseph with Civics goalkeeper, Romeo van Wyk well beaten. Joseph however failed to connect with the ball and the shot went wide.
Tigers shock Black Africa
Submitted by editor on Fri, 10/01/2010 - 21:53.Tigers caused a major upset when they beat Black Africa 1-0 in a hard fought encounter on Friday night. Tigers took the lead through a great header by Pineas Jacob just before halftime and then defended resolutely in the second half to shut out BA’s attacks and hold out for the victory.
There was not much to enthuse about in the first half as neither team created many opportunities. Black Africa had the most ball possession but rarely threatened Tigers’ defence as they passed the ball from flank to flank, probing for openings.
Griquas in command
Submitted by editor on Fri, 10/01/2010 - 17:10.Griqualand West were well in control of their three-day CSA match against Namibia at the Wanderers on Friday, with Namibia holding a 21-run lead and only four second innings wickets in hand.
After scoring 271 in their first innings, Griquas skittled Namibia out for only 80 runs in their first innings.
Namibia were forced to follow on and at stumps had reached 213/6, with captain Craig Williams not out on 87.
Namibia’s batting was woeful in the first innings, with poor options and some questionable decisions contributing to their downfall.

KIMBERLY ANN VAN ZYL
The 19-year old achieved a life long dream when she won a gold medal African Gymnastics Championships in Walvis Bay in March 2010.
