Tigers’ great start to the season continued when they beat defending champions African Stars 2-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Friday night.

Stars did most of the attacking, but could not get past Tigers’ resolute defence, while second half breakaway goals by Kenny Malgas and Nelson Akwenye gave them a stunning victory.

It was Tigers’ second consecutive victory of the season, which moves them up to second position on the log, while Stars have now just collected two points from three matches.

Centuries by Craig Williams and Raymond van Schoor put Namibia in a strong position at the end of the first day of their CSA Challenge match against Easterns on Thursday. Namibia reached 367 all out in their first innings while Easterns were at 55/0 at stumps.

Namibia got off to a bad start after Ewald Steenkamp (4) and Gerhard Rudolph (0) were dismissed early, but Williams joined Van Schoor to put Namibia in charge.
