Naitembu, Iipinge win Victory Races

Johannes Naitembu and Helena Iipinge each received N$10 000 after being crowned as the overall Men and Women’s winners of the 21km Old Mutual Victory Races series at the awards ceremony in Windhoek on Wednesday.

According to the rules of the series, the overall category winners were determined by taking the two best times of an athlete in the series. Athletes also had to participate in the final in Windhoek and at least one other event of the series.

Brave Warriors squad to face Zambia

Brave Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet on Wednesday announced a 25-man squad of home based players in preparation for the Cosafa Challenge competition in Zimbabwe next month where Namibia will face Zambia in their opening match. The squad includes several newcomers, notably Black Africa goalkeeper Arnold Subeb and Blue Waters defender Gottlieb Nakuta.

Millions of football fans across Africa will be able to tune into exclusive news and views via a TV, radio and online ”football feast” over the coming months, Standard Bank, the sole African sponsor of Orange AFCON 2010, announced in a press release on Wednesday.
