MTC announces N$6,7 million sponsorship for Premier League

MTC announced a sponsorship of N$6,7 million for the new Namibia Premier League season which will be known as the MTC Premiership and is scheduled to kick off on September 11.

The sponsorship announcement, which was made at a press conference at the Namibia Premier League’s office in Windhoek on Wednesday, signifies an increase of N$2,4 million or more than 55 per cent on the previous season’s Premier League sponsorship.

Van Staden 23rd at World Champs

Namibia’s Heletje van Staden finished 28th overall in the Women’s U23 category at the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Canberra, Australia on Wednesday.

Van Staden finished 22 minutes 48 seconds behind the winner from Poland, Aleksandra Dawidowicz. Dawidowicz completed the 25,88km course in a time of 1 hour 24 minutes and 32 seconds at an average speed of 18,37km/h.

Alexandra Engen of Sweden was second, 1:13 behind, while Julie Bresset of France was third, 2:31 behind.

Great performances at National Second Qualifier

The Namibia Gymnastic Federation's Artistic Gymnastics Second Qualifying competition for Levels 4 to Senior Olympic took place on Saturday in Windhoek at the Excelsior Gymnastics Club's hall. This competition was gymnasts' last chance to string together a series of apparatus routines to achieve the necessary qualifying scores for the Nationals at the end of the year.
