Stars on the verge of creating history

Brouwers Litombo

African Stars are on the verge of creating history as they only need a point against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night to win the MTC Namibia Premier League title. A draw or a win will give them their first title since independence and even if they lose against Pirates, they can still wrap the title up in their final match against Ramblers on Saturday.

The only other two teams who can still overtake Stars are Black Africa and SKW, but for this to happen, Stars will have to lose both their final two matches.

While negotiations for Paulus “The Hitman” Moses’ world title fight continue, Namibian boxing promoter Nestor Tobias on Tuesday announced several more fights for Namibian boxers in the coming weeks.

“We are still finalising the Hitman’s fight, but boxing in Namibia can’t stop, because we must build more world champions. The private sector must assist these young boxers to help make their dreams come true,” Tobias said.

The Special Elective Congress follows the visit to Namibia by IAAF representative and secretary general of the World Athletics Foundation, Cheikh Thiare in May.
