Triple Header Independence Boxing Tourney
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/25/2009 - 11:55.Ali Nuumbembe, Tyson Uushona and Jatoorora Tjingavete will fight for Pan African titles at a “Triple Header Independence Day Boxing Tournament” at the Windhoek Country Club on March 21. The tournament, to be promoted by Nestor Tobias, will see Nuumbembe and Tjingavete taking on foreign opponents, while Uushona will take on compatriot Tommy Hango in a rematch for the vacant WBA Pan African welterweight title.
The Triple Header was announced by promoter Nestor Tobias at a press conference in Windhoek on Wednesday.
Kiddies Sport launched
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/25/2009 - 08:21.The Kiddies Sport programme for 2009 in Katutura, sponsored by Metropolitan Namibia, was recently launched at the AI Steenkamp Primary School in Katutura.
At the opening the, Rudolph Himarua, Executive: Retail at Metropolitan Namibia, announced that Metropolitan will once again sponsor the programme for the fifth consecutive year, to an amount of N$45 000 with the schools earmarked to benefit from this year’s sponsorship being AI Steenkamp and Auas Primary schools.
Wesbank Motocross on Saturday

For some riders, three months without Moto Cross was sheerly unbearable! This coming Saturday they will be able to play with their clutches again, when it’s time for the first race of the Namibian Moto Cross Championship 2009. As in previous years, the main sponsor is Wesbank, the motor financing branch of First National Bank of Namibia – they have stayed true to the sport since 2006.
