A highly successful Namibia Swimming Championships came to an end on Sunday after four days of excellent performances and tough competition amongst Namibia’s top swimmers. This year’s championships, which were sponsored by Hollard Insurance were held earlier than normal, with the result that most swimmers were not at their peak, since they were building up for other events later in the season. Despite this, six new records were established while the competition between the swimmers was extremely tight, leading to some outstanding races.
Mighty Gunners’ former coach, David Snewe has joined Orlando Pirates as technical director. Pirates’ chairman Mabos Vries confirmed that they had appointed Snewe as technical director to assist head coach Brian Isaacs and to be responsible for the club’s overall technical operations, including their youth teams.
Vries denied that Isaacs had been fired or that their recent run of poor results had led to the appointment of Snewe.
