A team of 25 gymnasts leave for Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday to represent Namibia at the ninth African Gymnastics Championships. Namibia will compete in the men’s junior and women’s junior and senior artistic competitions, and the women’s junior and senior rhythmic competitions.
Although Namibia will be represented by a young team against the continent’s best nations’ they are still hopeful of winning some medals.
Namibia remain third out of seven teams on the three-day SAA Challenge cricket log after drawing last weekend’s match against Northerns. The whole of the second day’s play was rained out, making a result impossible, but Namibia still did enough to edge Northerns in the bonus points race by 8,88 points to 7,92 points.
Northerns were all out for 246 in their first innings, while Namibia were all out for 294 in their first innings before the match was called off.
Jerome Louis of Black Africa remains on top of the Namibia Premier League goal scorers list after completion of Round 8. Although Louis could not find the back of the net in Black Africa’s 1-0 defeat to SKW last Wednesday, he is still in front on six goals from eight matches.
Tigers’ Tangeni Shipahu and Henry Somseb of Eleven Arrows are breathing down Louis’ neck, with both on five goals.
