Civics and Brave Warriors defender Amos Shiyuka bid farewell to the game at a glittering gala dinner at the Windhoek Country Club on Friday, June 29.
Leading sport and soccer officials like Minister of Sport John Mutorwa and members of the South African Legends team, including former stars like Doc Khumalo, Phil Masinga and Tebogo Moloi attended the dinner which also served as a fundraiser for various Namibian charities.

Oliver and Wilko Risser have taken Namibian soccer by storm over the past month.
Although both brothers started their careers with Ramblers, they have been playing in Germany for the past few years and were not too well known in Namibian football circles.

Namibiaâ??s chances of qualifying for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana are slim, after they only picked up four from a possible six points at home to Libya and the DR Congo last month.
On June 2 Namibia beat Libya 1-0 and a fortnight later they drew 1-all against the DRC. They should have won the last match after wasting numerous chances, and in stead of leading the log they now find themselves second last in Group 10.

Civicsâ?? veteran defender Amos Shiyuka will bid farewell to the game with a glittering testimonial match in Windhoek on Saturday.
An Amos Shiyuka XI will take on a South African Legends XI in the main game at 16h00 which will be preceded by a curtain raiser between Civics Under 17 and African Stars Under 17.

Old Mutual Namibia announced that it will once again sponsor its popular Victory Races series to a total amount of N$220 000 at its launch in Windhoek on June 27.
It will be the seventh successive year that Old Mutual will sponsor the event since its inception in 2001. In the ensuing years the Victory Races has become the biggest event of its kind in Namibia, drawing athletes from schools, clubs and social runners alike.

Namibiaâ??s Jacques Celliers and Heinz Bressler came 10th and 12th respectively in the track racing event at the World B Cycling Championships on Wednesday, June 27.
It was the first time that Namibia had entered a team for the track event and considering that Namibia does not have a track of its own, the result was not too bad, according to team manager Glenn Howard.

Mighty Gunners coach Dawid Snewe has dismissed claims that he bribed players to lose a match, saying that he was a man of integrity and would become involved in bribery issues.
Benfica owner Peter Amadhila opened a case of bribery against Snewe, whom he accused of bribing six of his players to throw a match on June 10.

Nine Namibian football coaches will leave for Brazil shortly to attend various coaching courses from July 1 to 30, 2007.
The courses were facilitated by the Namibia Football Association, as part of a Special Capacity Building Programme, and will consist of coaching and instructors programmes on offer by the Brazilian Football Academy of Dr Augustino Neto.

Hakkies Husselmann has been appointed as the new coach of the Nambian rugby tem, following the dismissal of Johan Venter.
The chief executive officer of the Namibia Rugby Union told Namibia Sport that Husselman had been appointed after giving a good account of himself at the IRB Nations Cup in Romania.
