Blue Waters suffered their second defeat of the weekend when they went down 4-2 to Orlando Pirates at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday.
Pirates attacked from the start and the gaps soon opened up. Wilfred Coetzee, Patrick Jagger and Enrico Afrikaner all came close in the opening stages before Jagger took the lead in the 24th minute. He received the ball from a long kick upfield, beat a defender and fired a 30m shot into the net.
Western Suburbs started the rugby season on a high note when they beat the defending champions Wanderers 48-38 in the MTC Premier League at their home ground, Suburbs Park on Saturday.
The teams weighed up evenly in the forward exchanges, but Suburbsâ?? fleet-footed backline and the accurate goalkicking by fullback McGrath van Wyk ultimately made the difference.
