Strydom beats Soderberg

NamibiaÅ? Jurgens Strydom progressed to the quarterfinals of the ITF MenÅ? Futures Tournament when he beat Henrik Soderberg of Sweden in straight sets on Wednesday, October 31.
Strydom was solid all round, displaying strong serves and groundstrokes as well as some deft volleys at the net to win the match 6-4, 6-4.

Boxing Bonanza for Ongwediva

The Northern town of Ongwediva will be the centre of attraction on November 10 when the Nestor Sunshine Tobias and Fitness Academy hosts its Boxing Bonanza there.

In action will be Namibiaâ??s WBA inter-continental champion Paulus â??The Hitmanâ?? Moses, who will trade blows with ZimbabweÅ? Ephraim Mangenda in a ten round lightweight bout. It will be the main bout of the evening and will be supported by nine other bouts on the undercard, involving some of Namibiaâ??s top professional boxers.

Bamfuchile gives locals a chance to shine

All set for FNB Cup semifinals

THE draw for the FNB Cup semi-finals was made in Windhoek on Tuesday, October 30, pitting Black Africa against Eleven Arrows and Ramblers against Cymot SKW.

The semi-finals are scheduled to take place at Windhoek's Independence Stadium on November 17, with Black Africa taking on Arrows at 16h00, while Ramblers will take on Cymot SKW at 18h00.

Namibians eliminated at Futures tournament

Two Namibian players were both eliminated in the first round of the ITF Futures tournament in Windhoek on Tuesday, October 30.

Henco Serdyn lost 6-2, 6-3 to the top seeded Matteo Volante of Italy, while Johan Theron lost 6-3, 6-4 to Danila Arsenov of Russia.

Strydom off to winning start

NamibiaÅ? Jurgens Strydom got off to a winning start in the first round of the ITF F1 Futures Tennis Tournament in Windhoekon Monday, October 29.

Playing against the eighth-seeded Candy Idoko of Nigeria, Strydom comfortably won the first set 6-3.

Namibia beat Canada by 8 wickets

Namibia beat Canada by eight wickets in their ICC Intercontinental Cup match at the Wanderers field in Windhoek on Sunday, October 28.

After forcing the follow on, Namibia dismissed Canada for 295 runs in their second innings, leaving a victory target of 102 runs.

Ramblers hold out

Ramblers beat Orlando Pirates on penalties in their FNB Cup quarterfinal match at Windhoekâ??s Independence Stadium on October 28, after a goalless 90 minutes.

Pirates had only themselves to blame for their defeat to Ramblers. Ramblers defender Dylan Mieze was sent off for swearing in the 35th minute, but despite enjoying a surfeit of possession, Pirates couldnâ??t make their numerical advantage count.
