Football leaders from southern Africa described FIFA’s Integrity in Sport workshop in Johannesburg at the weekend, which was conducted in co-operation with Interpol as a “wonderful opportunity to learn”.
Eight football associations from the region spent two productive days discussing methods of tackling match fixing and corruption in football, resolving at the end to strengthen their preventative measures and engage governments to enact better legislation to deal with the issues.
A total of 12 Namibian short course records were established at the third short course gala of the season in Oranjemund on August 11.
Kiara Schatz and Lushano Lamprecht, both of NSA, both set four new records, while Zanre Oberholzer set two and Toni Roth and Kiah Borg one record each.
The 13-year-old Schatz gave a great performance in the Women’s 200m Butterfly to set a new national Open record as well as a 13/14 year old age group record of 2:33:62.
She also set 13/14 age group records in the 100m Butterfly of 1:09,72 and the 200m Freestyle of 2:14,88.
