United book place in semis
Submitted by editor on Fri, 08/03/2012 - 16:13.After beating UNAM 25-20 on Wednesday, log leaders United is the first team to have qualified for the semi-final of the Rugby Premier League.
The University team picked up a bonus point for the close defeat and thus moved up to second position. However, depending on the results of tomorrow´s last round matches they might end up in fifth place.
Western Suburbs, Reho Falcons and Rehoboth will all try to push UNAM out of the top four, thereby securing themselves a spot in the semi-finals set for 1 September.
Herunga through to semis
Submitted by editor on Fri, 08/03/2012 - 15:21.Tjipekapora Herunga qualified for the women’s 400m semifinals after coming third in her heat on Friday.
Herunga finished in a time of 52,31 seconds, while Sanya Ross Richards of the USA won the heat in 51,78 with Carol Rodriguez of Puerto Rico coming second in 52,19.
Herunga’s time was well below her Namibian record of 51,24 seconds that she set in pretoria earlier this year but she said she was not concerned about her time and just made sure that she finished in third place to qualify for the semifinals.
Herunga qualifies for 400m semis
Submitted by editor on Fri, 08/03/2012 - 12:34.Tjipekapora Herunga qualified for the second round of the Women’s 400m when she finished third in Heat 4 in a time of 52,31 seconds.
The top three athletes in each heat are guaranteed a place in the semifinals, with the rest of the positions made up according to times, and Herunga did not want to take any chances by coming fourth.
“I was a bit nervous but I just went out there to give my best. I was aiming for a top three finish, I didnt want to come fourth and wait to find out if I qualified for the semis,” she said.
Herunga said she ran a relaxed race.
Women Super League set for thrilling finish

Jacqueline Shipanga Academy, leading the six-team league with 46 points from 18 matches played with a goal-difference of an impressive 115, will need juts a single draw from their two weekend matches, while in second place, the defending champions Okahandja Beauties are six points adrift, the same with third placed Poly Babes.
