Kasuto off to a winning start

Mujandjae Kasuto got off to a great start at the Olympic Games on Saturday when he won his first fight in the 75kg middleweight category 11-8 on points against Sobirdzhon Nazarov of Tajikistan on Saturday.

The boxers were tied at 3-3 at the end of the first round but Kasuto stepped up the tempo as the fight progressed to take a 7-6 lead by the end of the second round.

In the third round, Kasuto kept up the pressure with a flurry of combinations to take the round 4-2 and win the fight 11-8.

Craven crashes out of Olympic Cycle Race

Dan Craven’s Olympic dreams ended in tatters when he crashed out of the men’s Road Race on Saturday.

The incident happened after about 80km of the 250km race when a crash happened in front of Craven and although he was able to avoid full contact, he still ended up in the melee and was pulled down.

Craven’s bicycle got entangled with that of Italian rider Luca Paolini, who’se handle bar got stuck in Craven’s front wheel and by the time it got untangled Craven was far behind the leaders.
