Nigeria score late winner

Brave Warriors

Namibia gave a courageous display before going down 1-0 to Nigeria in their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Calabar on Sunday.

Namibia thwarted numerous Nigerian attacks throughout the match and seemed to be heading for a draw when Ikechukwu Uche scored Nigeria’s winner 10m from time.

Namibia’s defence failed to clear a loose ball in a cowded box and Uche slammed the ball into the net from close range.

It was tough luck on Namibia who had defended well throughout the match, none more so than goal keeper Virgil Vries, who brought off several fine saves.
