Hansa Rostok’s youthful midfielder Manfred Starke has been called up to the Brave Warriors squad in preparation for a series of international matches next month.

The 21-year-old Starke has represented Hansa Rostok’s first team a few times this season, while he has also represented Namibia at Under 20 level before.

Starke is the only new face in the group of 23 players that will attend a training camp in Germany in preparation for international encounters against Nigeria, Kenya and Liberia next month.

Namibia’s Under 20 soccer team lost 2-1 to Rwanda in Kigali on Saturday and failed to reach the second round of the 18th African Youth Championships qualifiers.

The 2-1 defeat meant that Rwanda advance to the next stage 4-1 on aggregate after they beat Namibia 2-0 two weeks ago in Windhoek.

The match that was played at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali was always going to be a heavy mountain for Ricardo Mannetti’s team to climb, and Namibia had their keeper Edward Moava to thank as he brought off some fine saves early in the match.
