Namibian junior athletics team selected
Submitted by editor on Sun, 05/20/2012 - 18:04.Athletics Namibia has selected a team of 13 athletes to represent the country at the Confederation of African Athletics Southern Region Youth Championships which take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on May 27.
All the athletes represented Namibia at the recent Cossasa Athletics Championships in Gaborone, Botswana, where Namibia won the event with a total of 58 medals.
Christien Kruger, who won the award for the top girls Under 17 athlete and Israel Tjiramba who won the award for the top male Under 17 athlete in Gaborone, are both in the team.
Arrows secure Premiership survival
Submitted by editor on Sun, 05/20/2012 - 09:14.Eleven Arrows retained their Premiership status after beating United Stars 2-0 at the Kuisebmund Stadium on Saturday.
Peter Ngwenya gave them the lead just before halftime when he slammed in a loose ball in a goalmouth scramble.
Enrico Hoebeb sealed their victory with a great individual goal midway through the second half when he beat three defenders on a solo run.
United Stars’ defeat saw them finishing second last on the log, to be relegated along with Hotspurs to the first division.
