Chiefs’ Shitembi out to make history

Petrus Shitembi

Rundu Chiefs will need to win one of their two weekend fixtures to secure their first-ever promotion to the Namibia Premier League.

The Rundu based team leads the Northern Stream first division with 40 points with two matches remaining and will need just one victory over the weekend to automatically clinch their promotion to the elite league of Namibian football.

Rundu Chiefs last weekend lost 1-0 at Unam Ongogo before trouncing Onambula United 5-0 to move even closer to promotion.

Fight for survival

The battle to avoid relegation from the Namibia Premier League reaches a climax this weekend when the second last round of matches takes place.

There are several possible scenarios depending on the outcome of the various matches, and the relagation battle will probably only be decided when the final round of matches take place on May 19.

But one thing is certain. If Eleven Arrows beat African Stars at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday afternoon, they will remain in the top flight while United Stars and Hotspurs will be relegated.
