The women’s rugby league in Namibia recently got underway with Reho Pandas beating Phoenix 17-12 on Saturday to go to the top of the league.
In a close encounter of fluctuating fortunes, Pandas took a 7-5 lead at the break, before stretching their lead to 14-5 early in the second half.
Phoenix came back strongly to reduce the gap to 14-12 but Pandas’ flyhalf Orelia Christians secured the victory with a penalty five minutes from time.
Phoenix opened the scoring with a fine try by rightwing Jodie Gertse when she followed up a kick ahead to dot down after 5m.
