Namibia win U18 SA Hockey Festival
Submitted by editor on Wed, 07/20/2011 - 11:59.The Namibia School Sport Union’s national Under 18 Girls Hockey side beat some of South Africa’s top provinces to win the U18 category at the South African Inter Provincial Hockey Festival that was held in Bloemfontein, South Africa from July 11 to 14.
Namibia won Pool A by winning their group matches against Western Province, Northern Free State and North West.
By finishing top of their group, Namibia qualified for the semifinals where they beat Amatole Coastals on a penalty shootout.
NFA awaits CAF decision
Submitted by newsdesk on Wed, 07/20/2011 - 11:03.The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will make a decision on the complaint made by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) about the eligibility of Herve Zengue to play for Burkina Faso in September.
NFA secretary general, Barry Rukoro said this in an exclusive interview with Namibia Sport on Wednesday.
Namibia played their second leg match against Burkina Faso in Windhoek under protest claiming that Zengue was not eligible to play for Burkina Faso because he was still a Cameroonian. Namibia lost the match 4-1.
NFA to host Anglophone Women's Football Symposium
Submitted by newsdesk on Wed, 07/20/2011 - 09:47.The Namibia Football Association (NFA) will host an Anglophone Africa Women’s Football Symposium in November this year.
NFA secretary general, Barry Rukoro revealed this to Namibia Sport on his return from the 5th FIFA Women’s Football Symposium he attended in Frankfurt with Jackey Gertze from the Women’s Desk.
“Namibia is recognised as one of the countries where women’s football is developing well and that is why Jackey had the opportunity to present our women football development project to the delegates who were there,” Rukoro said.
