Namibia hosts CAA Southern Region Youth Championships
Submitted by editor on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 15:46.Athletes from eleven Southern African Nations will be gathering at the Independence Stadium this weekend as Athletics Namibia plays host to the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Southern Region Youth Championships.
The two day event will start on Saturday 28th May 2011 from 10:00 – 12:30 and will conclude on Sunday the 29th May 2011, from 09:00 – 13:00 at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.
Brave Warriors to play Kenya on Monday
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 11:53.The Brave Warriors will play a friendly match against Kenya’s Harambee Stars at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Monday.
The secretary general of the Namibian Football Association (NFA), Barry Rukoro confirmed this on Thursday.
“We are expecting the Kenyans to arrive on Friday for their training camp and then the match will be on Monday evening,” Rukoro said.
A full strength Brave Warriors is expected to play on Monday but the coach, Brian Isaacs had not yet decided on the final squad as he is still waiting for some of the foreign based players to join the team in camp.
Namibian squad for World Student Games
Submitted by editor on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 10:35.The Tertiary Institutions Sport Association of Namibia (TISAN) has announced a soccer training squad that will participate in the 26th World Students Games in Shenzen, China from August 11 to 24.
The squad consists of 31 players and will be trimmed down to a final group of 18 players before the team’s departure.
The squad includes numerous players who play in the Namibian Premier League.
The recently crowned MTC Premiership champions Black Africa lead the way with five members, while African Stars have four representatives and Tigers three.
Arrows confident of Cup victory
Submitted by newsdesk on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 10:10.Eleven Arrows coach, Congo Hindjou is confident of victory in Saturday’s Leo NFA Cup final at Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay.
Hindjou said he didn’t care where the final would be played and they were ready to face Civics.
“We are ready to play the final, whether it is in Keetmanshoop, Grootfontein or Katima Mulilo we don’t care. All I know is that we are going to win because we have the better players in our squad,” Hindjou said in response to the raging debate over the change of venue from Windhoek to Walvis Bay.
