A young Brave Warriors team and Lesotho played to a goalless draw in an international friendly at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Monday night.

There was not much to enthuse about in a match that lacked sparkle and excitement while the poor turnout of about 1000 people also detracted from the occasion.

Furthermore, the floodlights on the south side of the field were not working, with the result that visibility was not very good.

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has expressed shock and dismay at the CAF decision to dismiss the dispute regarding the eligibility of Burkina Faso player Hervé Zengue.

According to NFA president John Muinjo, the Football Association has appealed the decision taken by CAF to dismiss the protest over Cameroonian-born Hervé Zengue, who featured for Burkina Faso’s home and away ties against Namibia in the 2012 African nations Cup qualifiers, which the latter both lost.

Namibia has been drawn to play against Liberia in the second preliminary round of the 2013 African Nations Cup that will be held in South Africa.

Namibia will have to play in the second round of preliminary matches along with 27 other nations after they failed to qualify for the 2012 edition of the tournament that will be held in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Liberia are ranked 121 in the world and 31 in Africa while Namibia have a world ranking of 127 and are 33rd in Africa.

The U20 Women’s National team will play a friendly match against South Africa on December 3 in Windhoek.

The match was organised as part of the Young Gladiators’ preparation for the U20 World Cup qualifier against Ghana which will be played next year in March.

A total of 39 players have been included in the squad that will be reduced to 18 for the match against Ghana.

Thomalina Adams is included in the squad but will not be available for the friendly match against South Africa NFA Women’s Desk’s Jackie Gertze said.
