Namibian cricket team to face Uganda

Raymond van Schoor

Namibia will host Uganda in their third ICC Inter-Continental Shield Cup match in Windhoek from 18-21 September.

Uganda was supposed to host the match but all this changed following the bomb blasts that hit Kampala on July 11, leaving at least 70 people dead. In the aftermath of the incident, the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave the hosting rights to Namibia.

Namibia are currently third, behind United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Uganda after losing their first match against UAE and beating Bermuda in Windhoek. Uganda beat Bermuda and drew to UAE in January this year.

South African Lieuwe Boonstra won the Cycletech Spring Festival held over the weekend. Namibian Master triathlete Paddy Murphy was second while veteran Tokkie Bombosch finished third.

Patrick de Goede reports on the event:

What an awesome day! The 11th annual Cycletec Spring festival has come and gone and we would like to thank each and every one of you that made the effort to participate, spectate, support, marshal or just be there! This year’s event was definitely about being OUT IN THE STICKS, as every event on the day was off road, and it seems fun was had by all. (We hope?)
