McLaren the mainstay for Griquas

An unbeaten century by Adrian McLaren helped Griquas reach 270/8 at stumps on the first day of their CSA three-day challenge against Namibia on Thursday. When rain brought a premature halt to proceedings, McLaren was not out on 132 which came off 176 balls and included 10 fours and four sixes.

Gihahn Cloete and Tumelo Bodibe put on 63 runs for the opening wicket before Bodibe was caught off the bowling of Christi Viljoen for 39 with the total on 63.

Sarel Burger snapped up the wickets of Cloete (22) and Aubrey Swanepoel (3) as Namibia had the visitors in some trouble at 67/3.

NFA Galz & Goals wins international award

Competing with international organizations from all over the world, the Namibian Football Association’s ‘GALZ & GOALS’ initiative in partnership with UNICEF won US$15 000 plus professional capacity building support in administration and management for the award of ‘Sport Federation or Governing Body of the Year’ at the Beyond Sport Awards in Chicago, USA.

The NFA’s ‘Galz & Goals’ representative and women’s football head coach of Namibia, Jacqui Shipanga, accepted the internationally recognized award with great enthusiasm in Chicago on Wednesday evening.
