Doeseb re-elected as NPL chairman
Submitted by editor on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 11:14.The Namibia Premier League members endorsed J J Doeseb as the Namibia Premier League (NPL) chairperson for the next four years at the elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held over the weekend at the NBL Customer care centre.
Doeseb was elected unopposed after African Stars withdrew their nomination of Sydney Martin just before the election, resulting in Doeseb winning the election by 10 votes to 0.
The AGM was attended by 11 of the NPL members, including newly promoted PC Blue Boys, while Hotspurs and United Stars were relegated to the first division.
Erasmus wins Thule tennis tounament
Submitted by newsdesk on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 09:57.Jean Erasmus won the Hotel Thule Tennis Tournament held at SKW after beating Henco Serdyn 6-2 6-3 in a low key final on July 24.
Erasmus, who is currently playing in the United States, was the number one seed in the tournament and also the number one player in the country. In the quarterfinals he saw off former Namibian number one, JP Huisch in an exciting match that saw him lose the first set.
Hardap elects basketball association
Submitted by newsdesk on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 09:50.The Namibia Basketball Federation (NBF) established the Hardap Basketball Association on July 24 in Mariental. This means that all 13 regions have now established basketball associations.
The new HBA that was elected into office consists of Erasmus Kaduva as President, Hope Muyauka as the Secretary General, Erastus Iita as the treasurer, and Rusten Saal as the Development Officer. The Vice President's position is still vacant.
