More than 1 200 Galz play in NFA Summer Festivals

The Namibia Football Association’s Galz & Goals project has attracted a staggering total of over 1 200 girls playing in Under 13 and Under 15 football tournaments and trained 92 coaches at five regional festivals this summer. The festivals aim to create interest for regional leagues beginning in March 2010, training coaches and the girls themselves on Healthy Lifestyles along the way.

World Cup semi finals and final on the big screen

Local soccer fans will have an opportunity to watch the World Cup semi-finals and final on the big screen in Windhoek, Oshakati and Swakopmund courtesy of FNB and Coca Cola.

The announcement was made by the FNB Risk Manager, Conville Britz on Wednesday.

“FNB and Coke Namibia have ensured that Namibians are part and parcel of the 2010 World Cup excitement for a number of months now and hundreds of Namibians are attending World Cup matches courtesy of these Namibian companies,” Britz said.

Day Two of the FIRS Under 19 Inline World Championships saw Namibia losing their third match 8-3 against Italy.

Italy finished the first day of the championships with two victories and tied for first in Group B with the USA and France. Italy was the third of three straight undefeated teams that Namibia was paired with at the start of the championships. On Day One, Italy had soundly beaten Mexico (13-0) and edged Canada (6-5). Namibia lost to USA 10-0 and France 6-3 in their first two matches.
