Haitengi sets new triple jump record

Rodger Haitengi was Namibia’s star performer at the fourth leg of the South African Yellow Pages Athletics Series in Johannesburg on March 24, setting a new national triple jump record.

Haitengi came second in the men’s triple jump final with a leap of 16,38 metres, which was an improvement of three centimetres on his previous national record.

Haitengi established his previous national record at the Coca Cola Frank Fredericks Invitational Meet in 2007.

Namibian Newspaper Cup set to kick off

The ninth edition of the Namibian Newspaper Cup kicks off on Friday when Namibia’s 13 regions will battle it out for the top prize.

From humble beginnings in 2001 when the Namibian sponsored N$120 000 for the tournament, it has grown into one of the biggest soccer development tournaments in Namibia and this year the sponsors will pump more than N$1 million into the tournament.
