Hoffmann wins in Neuotting
Submitted by editor on Fri, 04/30/2010 - 14:49.Namibian professional cyclist Erik Hoffmann completed his third victory of the season when he won the Neuotting Road Race in Bavaria, southern Germany last weekend.
Hoffmann was ably assisted by his Landshut team, who put in a big team effort which saw the 28-year-old Namibian clinching the gold medal.
“It was a huge team effort by the Landshut team - we dominated the race from the start and I managed to win the race with their help,” he said.

Nuumbembe to fight Nekhubi
Submitted by editor on Wed, 04/28/2010 - 15:58.Ali Nuumbembe will now defend his WBA African welterweight title against Jerry Nekhubi of South Africa on Friday night, after his previous opponent, Boitshepo Mandawe pulled out of the fight.
According to Namibian boxing promoter Nestor Tobias, Mandawe “chickened out of the fight,” but he managed to find a suitable opponent in Nekhubi at short notice.
Tobias also said that Nekhubi would be a better opponent since he was rated higher by the World Boxing Organisation.
Venue problems for Leo NFA Cup quarterfinals

The Namibia Football Association will go ahead with the Khomasdal Stadium as the venue for Leo NFA Cup quarterfinal matches on Thursday and Friday, but will limit ticket sales to 2 000 people per match to avoid crowd congestion.
African Stars executive member Brian Makari expressed reservations about the Khomasdal Stadium as a suitable venue in a local daily on Wednesday, citing its limited space and lack of security facilities.
Gladiators prepare for Equatorial Guinea

According to the NFA Women’s Desk, after beating Angola 3-2 on aggregate, Namibia will have the whole of SADC behind them as they face off against the defending champions Equatorial Guinea on May 22 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
