Cricket Namibia wins global Development Programme award
Submitted by editor on Mon, 03/01/2010 - 19:54.Namibia’s cricket development programme took the top prize of Best Overall Cricket Development Programme at the ICC Development Programme Annual Awards 2009 which were announced on Monday.
It was the second time that Namibia had won the ICC Global Development Programme of the Year award following their first success in 2004.
Their latest award follows their continental success in February when they won the ICC African Development Programme of the Year award. It was the fifth time that they had won the continental development award.
Herunga second in Durban

Tjipekapora Herunga was Namibia’s best performer at the second leg of the South African Yellow Pages Athletics Series in Durban on Friday night, winning a silver medal in the women’s 400m race.
The race was won by Este Wittstock of Tuks Athletics Club in 53,82 seconds, followed by Herunga in 55,41 and Alet van Wyk of Tuks in 55,43.
Herunga’s time was slower than the 54,49 seconds she set when she won the first leg of the series in Port Elizabeth on February 19, but according to team manager Agnes Samaria, she struggled to adjust to the conditions.
